Help guide

Why can I view something but not edit it?

Viewing and editing are separate permissions, and some item states are read-only.

Overview

A viewer can inspect information without changing it. Even an editor can encounter locked fields on published posts, source-owned destinations, or items outside their permitted scope.

Check the exact action

Ask an owner to review the feature’s editor role, page access, and any role-rank requirement. Check the item’s state and the control’s explanation before requesting a broader role.

Examples

An auto-generated Short Link can allow a custom-slug edit while keeping its target read-only. A post already publishing can lock settings that were editable while pending. These cases are not fixed simply by reloading the page.

Availability and access

Availability depends on your organization access and assigned permissions.
