Edit an auto-generated Short Link’s custom URL

Give an automatically generated Short Link a custom address without changing its source-owned target.

Overview

Auto-generated destinations are managed by their source feature. The target can be read-only while a Short Link editor is still allowed to add or change its custom slug.

Change the custom URL

  1. Open the link

Find the auto-generated Short Link and open its edit dialog. Read the target ownership notice.

  2. Edit the slug

Enter a valid available slug in the custom-slug field and save.

  3. Copy the URL

Copy the custom address and test it. The generated key remains valid alongside it.

Need another destination?

Review the feature that generated the link. Editing the slug changes the address visitors use, not the content or URL controlled by that source.

Availability and access

Availability depends on your organization access and assigned permissions.
